I mean, he's being a douche about it, but he's not actually wrong. Her relationship ended because she wouldn't fulfill what her ex needed to get from the relationship, not because he failed to fulfill her needs. If anyone qualifies as "useless" in that exchange, it's Jen.

Of course, it's substantially more complicated than that and he was pretty clearly in the wrong for stringing her along indefinitely when she made her intentions clear. But that just means that "uselessness" is a pointless concept to consider there. It doesn't change who was the more valuable participant in the relationship.
