Nebraska playing an 'early' season game has nothing on the prospect of OSU playing in a championship. Then you start to add in the threat of them getting left out of the playoffs...

They followed the rules until $$$$$$$
I mean, obviously there is a ton more money involved. I don't think Ohio State would have necessarily been left out of the playoff without playing. I do think they make more money with them in the championship. That said, Nebraska playing a meaningless game or not was still more money regardless. And, if allowed, could have had their big ten teams playing alternate games all season for more money too.

I don't disagree with you. At all. Just saying they didn't just choose whichever option gave them more money though.

I as Nebraska would be livid though. And whoever is gonna lose their championship spot to Ohio State.

I can't see how that conference isn't splintered as fuck over this.
