Yeah the pool thing really lost me, and considering how potent the invisible enemy was in the opening and how we didn't get to see what went down, only the aftermath, I felt like it kinda lost its efficacy. I was also pretty wasted and tired when I watched it so that probably has some effect on my perception of it. Again though, there are plenty of thins it did really well, and I didn't even remember most of them, but I give it credit for them in retrospect.

Of those 3 movies you mentioned, tc, I've only seen Hereditary. I liked it. I actually have a better understanding of it after watching the kill count. It explained some things I didn't initially pick up on. I had Charlie spoiled for me but those scenes were still hard hitting. The actress from The Leftovers was awesome as usual. I knew she was trouble. I never trusted her character lol. Toni Collette is great in most of her roles. Gabriel Byrne was kinda understated but his character was meant to be, so it worked. It was also an interesting setting. I always like trying to figure out where movies take place if it isn't advertised. I kept jumping back and forth between pacific nw and rockies between their house and the road scenes. I would have guessed Idaho but apparently it was Utah, so I was close lol. Never did get a good license plate view >_>
