Bomberman is classic multiplayer fun as is. While I can't say that it would necessarily be popular enough to keep an online community alive even if they did make a good Bomberman game, I can also say I haven't played a good Bomberman game since PS1. Was that Party Edition? That game was great. There is a fan game on PC called Power Bomberman. It is surprisingly good.
