Finally, after 10 years of owning this game, I finally beat it, including the extra chapter. That part wasn't as long or difficult as I expected it to be, so it was fine even though it doesn't change much. Overall, really nice Dragon Quest title, charming and classic as always and very impressive considering this was originally on the NES. Some of it is a little archaic, but in general its aged roots are disguised pretty well in this version. Whack and some RNG stuff can just bugger off though. A nice, if simple, story, plenty to explore, some interesting bosses and especially a pretty epic final boss (talking about Psaro here, not Aamon). Not a real standout game anymore these days, but it was a very solid and relaxing jrpg.
