I suppose that could be it, after all many people have been "helped" in this "difficult time" who didn't actually need it in the first place. Self-reflection can be helpful. Take some time to reflect on the fact that someone whose occupation is the discovery and dissemination of scientific knowledge--whose prime motivator in life is to increase scientific literacy in others--has declared you a lost cause.
