Part 2 was a lot shorter!

Since we can't investigate Pavlova's cabin, we check back with Hosonaga. He's in pretty bad shape and nearly got thrown off the ship for helping Ryunosuke. He really did risk his life to help us out. What a guy! It looks like Kazuma's post-mortem report is ready. Cause of death appears to be a broken neck. The report (barring future updates) says death was instantaneous. So Kazuma definitely didn't write the dying message. Sholmes did an analysis on the mark on the floor near the piece of glass and it seemed to be shoe polish. So maybe the glass came from a bottle of shoe polish? One final thing is Hosonaga mentions he has a headache like Ryunosuke. I guess there was something in the food last night? As I recall, Ryunosuke ate it all since Kazuma didn't like eating chicken (a rare misstep in his character). Also, now that I think about it the books in Pavlova's room were also slanted the same way as the books in Kazuma's room for some reason.

Back in the hallway we get an update from Sholmes. Apparently the log book normally has the phrase "nothing to report" in it when there is actually nothing to report. Instead the log back was suspiciously blank last night which suggests something did happen. Sholmes and Susato also confirm they have headaches so there was definitely something wrong with the food last night.

Since it is now unguarded, we go back to investigate Pavlova's room. "The bolt wouldn't just slide across of its own accord, would it?" Did Susato just spoil the surprise? That sounds like what might have actually happened somehow. Especially when combined with what happened to the books on the bookshelf. Maybe someone hit to emergency stop button which is what caused the books to tip over and the door to lock. Ryunosuke says that can't happen, though. But, he's wrong. The ship literally does an emergency stop which both causes the books to get knocked over and the door to lock itself. Ryunosuke sort of lucks into the answer but that's still one part of the mystery down.

Hosonaga comes knocking on the now closed door and Part 2 comes to an ominous end.

Two parts down and still no trial. I'm not really sure how a trial would even work since the boat is near Hong Kong right now. In modern Japan, a trial could be held on a moving train so a boat probably would have been doable as well. Not as easy in the current time period, though.
