Tesleen is a character that half works for me. Tesleen is a rather simplistic character: a kind-hearted caretaker with a tragic past which makes it easy to get behind her and her motivations. She's sweet, helpful, and pure, and can even kick some butt if she needs to. So when she gets stabbed in the back by a Sin Eater, a maliciously twisted version of an angel, the shock is inherently built in. What really sells it thought is the absolute dead expression in her face as the transformation into the very thing that kills her occurs. This is what loses me a little however. Yes the initial expression is terrifying, but the jilted animations here and cheesy voice acting don't go far enough in expressing the agony and emotional weight Tesleen should be experiencing then. I think there is where an actual horror game would better serve something like this, the whole transformation would be better shown in excruciating detail to emphasize the corruption and the darkness overtaking the light. As it stands, I'm glad other mediums are pushing this sort of thematic quality and exposing it to a wider audience, but it's still lacking that last piece of emotional weight that push this scene up the next echelon of fantastic horror scenes, gaming or otherwise.

I've decided to put my fears behind me. I'm not going back.
