I feel like the characters don't have anything else to them except the romance, cause if they did, the show would also be about that, and not be pure romance. Yeah, which is why I enjoy romantic-comedy anime (Love Hina, Ouran, etc) and manga (Love Tyrant), as well as slice-of-life anime with romance arcs (Genshiken).
