I liked the video. I can't think of many pure romances that I've seen; most of the ones I like these days are type 2. I'm also now in the mood to watch more Kare Kano.
I think this is because most anime are Type 2s. I can't really think of what would classify as a Type 1 because Type 1 would be strictly Shojo, and the Shojo anime I've seen is really stiff I guess? Type 2 is where the majority of modern shonen/seinen targeted romantic comedies are. Off the top of my head recent good ones would be Horimiya, Sing Yesterday for Me, Takagi-San, Shogi-senpai (airing next season, very good!), and Taisho Otome Fairy Tale. Usually there's some kind of gimmick that makes them enjoyable, but I'm thinking that Sing Yesterday for Me might even be more leaning towards Type 1. It really doesn't have any kind of gimmick unless you count Haru as a character. Oh and I can't not state my love for BokuYaba which absolutely deserves an anime.

And I purposefully omitted Kaguya-sama. I wasn't a huge fan of it.

Whenever someone sings fansa and they don't input their name instead of mona at the mona-beam part I'm like "Are you even a real aidoru?".
