Yes. That is it, nothing more.

I've lost more weight eating nothing but soda and candy that I ever did eating healthy. I didn't feel too great, but the pounds still came off.

If you are overweight and trying to lose, you need to start by figuring out how many calories everything has. Of course, candy tends to have a lot of calories in a little package, but isn't very filling and often leaves you wanting more. Over time you will find that foods with protein (like eggs, meat, etc.) tend to let you eat a lot more for less calories and are more filling. Greens let you eat even more.

It really is that simple if all you care about is the number on the scale. You have to find the combinations of food that work for you and stay at a certain calorie count.
