First time I beat it on Java I was too OP to lose. The second time was PS4 edition and I was about evenly matched. I remember getting his head or egg or something. There was some glitch where you could preserve it and I save scummed or something. The first time that new area after the end didn't exist yet. With the shulkers or whatver.

95% of the times I've played I never even progress. I just dig and build stuff. I always went into the Nether once it existed though. Many times, I'd start playing again, I would just find a nice island surrounded by vast water and make a giant sand mine square in the ocean to fill in the water then dig inside it all the way to the bottom. Eventually I learned about mcedit and did that kinda thing that way. Only then I felt like I missed the materials it overwrite so I only did the sand-in-ocean fill and re-removal. So anything seafloor and lower I kept.

Then the main thing was making 16x16 or 32x32 or even 64x64 giant mine holes all the way from the ocean to the bedrock at x0,z63,y0 and plan to make a network of mining tunnels complete with minecarts and tracks. I never did that though. Also wanted to make long minetrack rollercoasters, but only did it once.
