Blue Fire (PS4)

This game fucks. It's sorta like if Wind Waker was actually Hollow Knight. Blue Fire is just fun to move around in, which is probably the highest compliment I can give a platformer. It's super fast but never unwieldy, and it gives you tons of options for varying your number and height of jumps and dashes, then basically just says "go nuts". There are very few true out-of-bounds areas or invisible walls so the platforming is very free form, and this also means you can get some upgrades earlier than they presumably wanted you to.

The combat isn't great and I honestly kind of wish the game was longer. It was about 11.5 hours for me to 100% without the DLC, which I'm still working on. It also has a bad case of Mario Sunshine Camera in its self-contained platformer challenges, where the challenge would be significantly easier if the camera would just fuck off and give you a reasonable viewing angle of both where you are and where you're jumping to, but this game's platforming is much, much better than Sunshine's so it doesn't feel nearly as game-breaking.
