One of those Gravity Falls episodes with both humor and surprising emotional twists, The Time Traveler's Pig is a favorite of mine because it has a little bit of everything that made the show great. Weird science, goofy one-liners, some great Wendy scenes, and of course, a demonstration of just how much Dipper cares about Mabel, even if he has to make sacrifices for her sake. The episode takes place at the local fair, and Dipper is trying to impress his crush Wendy by winning a prize for her. He fails spectacularly, while Mabel succeeds in winning her own prize: an adorable pig she names Waddles. Dipper ends up finding a magic tape measure that transports him back in time, and he uses it to eventually win the game and impress Wendy... but in the one and only universe where he's able to win, Mabel loses Waddles. It's one of the best early episodes of the show, not only delving into the supernatural (with consequences that rear their head later on), but it perfectly blends the outlandish and mundane, giving the show's excellent cast of characters a chance to shine. And, of course, it introduces Waddles, one of the most adorable animal characters in Disney history. All in all, a great Gravity Falls episode, and one of the best to introduce newcomers to the show. --- This signature won't change until Chrono Trigger gets a re-release on a modern Nintendo console. ...
