There's a lot of "fish out of water" shows out there, but rarely has an episode taken the concept and run with it as much as Star vs. The Forces Of Evil did with The Banagic Incident, perhaps my favorite early episode of the show. When Star gets bored and sees a strange "as seen on TV' product advertised, she wants to go buy it immediately, but is forced to do so on her own because Marco's busy with karate lessons. To say that "hilarity ensues" would be an absolute understatement: what follows is one of the funniest ten minutes of television I've ever seen. Star gets into all kinds of crazy shenanigans, particularly at a pirate-themed restaurant, where she ends up thinking everyone there is a real pirate and attacks them, leading to an insane chase through town. I love this episode for how absolutely wild Star gets, she's so full of energy and at this point she knows almost nothing about Earth, so she's bouncing all over the place while Marco is doing his own thing at the dojo. The Banagic Wand itself is a ludicrous item that's basically just a fancy way to freeze a banana into an ice cream-like substance, but Star, believing it to be a magical friendship wand, is willing to do anything, and I mean ANYTHING, to get her hands on it, which, eventually, she does. A great early character development episode for Star, filled with lots of laughs and craziness, it reaches comedic heights that the show would struggle to reach in later seasons.
