Show: Dragonball Z
Original airdate (US): September 26, 2002

"And this is to go... even FURTHER BEYOND!"

This was, simply put, one of my most anticipated scenes of all time. We had to wait a whole year for this because of the way the Buu saga was aired on Toonami, so by the time this episode finally came around, my anticipation was at a fever pitch, and holy crap, it did NOT disappoint. The previous transformations, SSJ and SSJ2, were certainly iconic (and may well show up further up on the list), but Super Saiyan 3 was the only one that had its own North American theme, and it went perfectly with the transformation itself, which was... I mean, wow. The entire Earth shook, Sean Schemmel was wrecking his vocal cords, everyone in the world was trembling in fear... the SSJ3 transformation lived up to the hype and then some, lasting five minutes and reaching an epic fever pitch, even flashing back to showing Goku as a baby, really cementing this as the ultimate SSJ transformation. We even got to see Goku pummel Majin Buu for a bit with his new power, though it was an all too short tease of his capabilities before that familiar next episode music began to play. While the episode pretty much just cracks the list for the five minute SSJ3 transformation sequence alone (which is why the episode isn't higher up), what an incredible transformation, and worth waiting an entire year for.
