Show: The Simpsons
Original airdate: March 10, 1993

"So we'll march day and night by the big cooling tower
They have the plant, but we have the power"

Frequently cited as one of the best Simpsons episodes of all time, it's one of my favorites as well for its blend of humor and heart, representing some of the best satire to ever appear on an American TV show. It's got some of the show's most memorable quotes ("LISA NEEDS BRACES!" and "house of lies" come to mind), and sees Homer at his absolute best, becoming leader of the plant workers' union and being too stupid to be corrupted, misinterpreting Mr. Burns' attempts to bribe him as being attempts to hit on him. I remember being at a very funny comedy movie one time, and before the movie, FXX was advertising its Simpsons marathon, and the "where's my burrito?" clip got more laughs than the movie itself, that's how funny this episode is on repeat viewings. It sees Mr. Burns in one of his most evil moments, shutting down power to Springfield in an effort to break the town, only for the people to come together and sing in a callback to "How The Grinch Stole Christmas". That's the thing about this episode, Lisa provides one of the show's most powerful musical moments despite the episode not even being about her, she's just there to support her dad, even wearing those hideous braces she's been forced to wear because Homer lost his dental plan. There's just so much to love here, and being the son of a union man myself, I definitely appreciated the episode's pro-worker stance, but even without the personal connection to the political satire, I'd probably still rank it among my favorite Simpsons episodes regardless.
