this is quite the story
Guy who won a House Seat in NY (US Congress) seems to have just lied about
everything in his life and resume.
- He says he worked for Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. They say they have no record of him ever working there. Citigroup further adds they are unfamiliar with the title he claimed to have and that they sold off the division he claimed to be part of years before his account.
- He says he graduated from Baruch College in 2010. The college says they have no record of anyone with his name and date of birth graduating that year.
- He claims he did a stint at NYU. NYU has no record of his attendence.
- He says he ran a tax-exempt/charity animal rescue group. The IRS says they have no record of a charity by that name.
- He claimed to have lost 4 employees at the Pulse nightclub shooting. The NYT looked into the 49 victims and found no evidence that any of them worked for any firm he listed in his biography.
- When he lived in Brazil he stole the checkbook of a man his mother cared for (she was a nurse) and used it to make fraudulent purchases. He confessed and was charged. However, he did not respond to the summons, when a court representative went to his given address he was nowhere to be found, and the case remains unresolved.
- He is alleged to have not paid rent on multiple occasions. Then during COVID complained that tenants were not paying him rent and bashed NY's COVID eviction moratorium. The NYT states he has not listed any NY properties on his required financial disclosure forms.
The chaser:
The New York Times reports...The Times attempted to interview Mr. Santos at the address where he is registered to vote and that was associated with a campaign donation he made in October, but a person at that address said on Sunday that she was not familiar with him.
