I learned to talk to people at my first job as a server where I had no choice They were like, "you're kind of quiet you should be a cook" and I was like "no I want to be a server". Now I'm not afraid of talking to people anymore (because customers are scarier) I'm still pretty shit at talking to people at parties and I just clam up. Don't know how other people do it I'm a bartender so that has helped a lot but even before I got this job I was putting in effort with coworkers/friends of friends.
