The Twitter API is very useful for a variety of reasons (I've used it in the past). And it a medium for creating automated posts (e.g. for bots) or App-assisted reading/sending of messages (clients). I believe The Switch uses it to post screenshots for example. This change is bad, but not for the reasons being provided.
