Search and Miller, phone records showed, spoke somewhat frequently from November 2020 to February 2021. And, they readily admitted, they had occasionally discussed commission business before they were fully trained and understood that doing so ran afoul of sunshine laws.

I think the lesson here is that if powerful people hate you, you have to be especially careful not to do things that give them a casus belli against you.

Kind of like speeding, everyone does it, but if the cops especially hate you then you better not do it even if everyone else is.
