The moments when nagatoro comes to the rescue actually make her look cool and the guy is a bit of weak willed loser, but is an enjoyable character and interesting instead of the abomination of a main male character in shikimori. It's just a much better execution of strong girl saves her boyfriend (even if they aren't actually dating in nagatoro). This show has my preferred blend of romance to comedy in a romantic comedy (similar to kaguya) and this show in particular is pretty good at hopping from one to the other and back again in a single scene.
