There are so many singers that each person's sections are incredibly brief and I find it impossible to distinguish their voices during the chorus. I suppose Dinger was probably the best, followed by those immediately following him: I could imagine the deeper voiced singers having an interesting song and I'm moderately curious about the higher-pitched singer (the second performer after Dinger), but not so curious that I feel I need to try tracking down any of their other work. Ultimately, it's a fine song and I guess it's a decent enough showcase for a variety of people, but perhaps a bit forgettable as no one gets a chance to really stand out. ====================== - ====================== Hibiki Ao - Hoshiyo Santa wo Michibiite (composer: Yuya Machida) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqGz9a4JvOU Estimated Score: 54.499 [Upgraded to 57.33] It's really nice seeing her again, but I don't like Christmas music and I'm not sure this is really an exception to that rule. Like, this song is relying entirely on my pro-Hibiki Ao bias to get this many points... well, almost entirely. I do like the instrumental break, strangely enough, that is some oddly catchy.... horn/trumpet/whatever brass-y sounding instrument it is. And the song is rather cute... ...alright, I'll move it up a bit to the "Kinda Like" tier as it would surely reach that point on repeated listens, but I feel it'd be unlikely for a Christmas song to reach the 60 point tier. ====================== - ====================== wotoha - Starry Gift (composer: ch1ro:D) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHhBl28oSds Estimated Score: 60.00 [Upgraded to 66.92] ...fine, but I refuse to be happy about it. *sighs* Alright, I guess I'll try to type something up. The song starts off terribly. The intentionally low-quality sound to the opening verse along with the monotonous instruments is one of the lowest points of the Post Ranking Ranking... but things really turn around once the song upgrades. More instruments, higher quality audio on the singing, It's really quite a drastic improvement and the lyrics are also surprisingly pretty nice to. And I suppose I do like it rather more than exactly 60 points. So... an oddly well done song choice. ====================== - ====================== wotoha feat. The lyrics are satisfyingly bleak, but her high-pitched singing and the pulsing beat are an almost brutal combination. The music is better than the previous track--no pulsing beat and her voice isn't nearly as high-pitched--but there's also nothing for me to get attached to like the lyrics on the last song, making it a closer call between the two then it should be.
