I never had a problem with Injustice Superman because it was explicitly an alternate universe, and in any event, main universe Supes stomps his shit at the end of the game

Outside of that, my beef with "evil" Superman is just that it's played out. I'm sick of seeing it, lol. Like we get exactly one modern Superman movie and in the very next film they're teasing an evil version. There's no compelling stakes to asshole Superman if you don't establish him at his best, which Man of Steel had barely even accomplished by the end.

Superman actually does have character flaws that can make him interesting when the writers actually feel like it. One problem is that a lot of people think being "too good" is the only thing they can do with him. Superman has a lowkey anger problem and petty streak. He can also act rashly, hotheaded, and be stubborn as shit, which works when he's right, but causes complications when he's not. This was actually one of the better aspects of Man of Steel I thought. Clark fucking that other Kryptonian's shit right the fuck up because they threatened his mother was so on-brand.

But you can't really go too far in that direction and "over-correct" the boyscout interpretation without making him unlikable. Superman should have his flaws, he should have moments where he acts like an ass or makes the wrong choices, but he shouldn't be edgy.
