I don't see anything in the CBA FAQ about it not being allowed (by Larry Coon, guy who's v knowledgeable about it). Usually there's no point because guys are fully guaranteed but CP is only partial.

The FAQ says if you waive someone that you just got via trade specifically, you have to wait a year after the anny of the trade. But it doesn't say anything about it not being allowed for someone who's been on your roster.


hmm, that must be what i'm thinking of.

it feels like no one has ever done it before. seems highly unlikely that any player would willingly drop tens of millions of dollars just to save their owner a buck (i think suns are so far deep above the salary cap it wouldn't even open up roster flexibility). the purpose of waiving players is supposed to be so that both parties can be separated from a contract they don't like. so this would feel counter to that
