The long and skinny:

Startup company of 2 people sends Linus a prototype cooler block for GPUs, to be shown on his channel of course and get some spotlight. It's their one and only complete prototype.

Startup sends with the instructions to be used on a 3090, as that's what they engineered the prototype to work with.

LTT reviews the block but tests with a 4090, doesn't work right and proceeds to trash the product.

It is what it is, but they keep asking for their prototype back so they can keep moving forward. Linus says sure but it never arrives. Turns out that LTT ended up selling it at a charity auction, possibly to competitors also wanting to develop the technology.

Now here's where it gets good. Tech Jesus aka Gamers Nexus gets whiff of this makes a video. He basically lambasts Linus. It's long and don't expect anyone to watch it, but basically calls out his testing methods, inaccurate results, and overall scum moves like this, etc. Harsh to say the least.

Linus responds with one of those "sorry not sorry I'm the real victim here" apologies. Not a channel video though, a post on his message boards. I'd link it but not sure of the rules here. That response blew up because of the stench of bullshit, then Tech Jesus released a video dismantling Linus and proving him a liar face. 1st part is dedicated to that.

And that's pretty much where the situation sits right now. PCMR is a pretty funny place right now.

Also I've personally unsubscribed from Linus. Another fallen hero.
