The president of the United States is not chosen based on who gets the most votes in the country from everyone voting. The misconception that the popular vote wins is still widely floated around even by people who don't necessarily like Trump. So when talking validity, it definitely needs to be clarified to people that the popular vote is not how the PotUS is chosen.
