Like others have said, I'm not even passing judgement on the movie. But if we're looking for the moment that Simpsons went from passion project to soulless moneymaker, it would be the movie, because that's the most clear cut moment where Groening flat out says the decision to not wait until the show was over was driven by ratings:

The original intention, said Groening, was to delay the film until the show was done.
