Yeah, he's not being physically aggressive or trying to get near the crate so I'm just letting him meow, hiss and growl when he wants. I'm not a cat. I don't know what he's trying to communicate to the kittens. So as long as we keep them safe and physically separate for a while, they'll figure it out.

His body language is super relaxed so it doesn't seem like he's too stressed. He's not wagging or slapping his tail, he doesn't have airplane ears, he's not getting in the spooky cat position.

Right now he's sitting on the floor with his tail wrapped around his feet just looking at them on the bed.

if he's showing relaxed body language, it's mostly, "your not mine, I aint raising you, stay away, I don't want to play".
