SMB used flag SMB2 had that eagle mouth SMB3 had a card SML2 had a bell you rang SMW had tape you cut The 3D games also did different things, Stars for 64, Shines for Sunshine, even Moons for Odyssey Then along came NSMB and the flagpole has been reused so many times.
