Marvel star Chris Hemsworth is clarifying those reports about him retiring from acting.

The Thor actor revealed last year that he discovered he is at a higher risk for Alzheimer's disease while filming an episode of his series Limitless where he underwent genetic testing.
Hemsworth was quoted at the time as saying he was going "to take some time off" because he'd been "not enjoying what was right in front of" him.

As he returns for the premiere of Netflix's Extraction 2, Hemsworth has explained to Entertainment Weekly that two key moments in his life had inadvertently been conflated in the press.
"It was interesting, because those two headlines got coupled together, that I was taking time off because of the genetic predisposition to Alzheimer's," he said.

The actor went on to clarify: "That experience and that show [Limitless] made me go, 'Oh wow, none of us are invincible.' It kind of slams you into the moment. You start asking bigger questions, and you think, 'I need to slow down and just experience this moment now and not have the years race by.'

"It was a positive in that sense, but it got a little overdramatized, like I was potentially retiring because of this thing. Which just isn't the case."

While he was filming Limitless, Hemsworth learned he was at an increased risk of being diagnosed with Alzheimer's because he has two copies of the gene APOE4.

He's slowing down on his acting career due to health concern, but he's not retiring.
