Kind of a silly scenario. Wouldn't a better question be $2000 in lottery tickets vs $1000 in cash? Yes, it would be, and I'll pretend this was the proposed scenario instead. I'd still take the cash so that I wouldn't have to bother going to go out somewhere to redeem the tickets for the likely trash amount of prize money I'd get, even if statistically speaking it probably would still be a bit more than $1k. ...
