Russia conquering Ukraine just means war with Russia in other countries later. Letting Ukraine fall means a more direct NATO conflict with Russia later.
Not only is it a humanitarian disaster and a huge boon to Russia(More meat shield concripts, more land they can stage invasions from and a big increase in their share of global food production and other resources to use as leverage) but it seriously increases the amount of NATO border Russia is on.
We have a golden opportunity to weaken Russia, strengthen NATO, save innocent lives and build strong economic ties with a resurgent rebuilt Ukraine in the future. But people are too goddamn stupid, selfish and even outright knowingly complicity with Russia to get that America First or Insert nation first sometimes means spending resources on other nations. Its not a simple Spend money on Americans and only Americans and everything works out.
Nope. If you let everyone else crumble and get crushed their problems become yours as refugees surge in or their enemies start coming for you. Supply chains crumble and prices go up. Etc.
The USA's main conservative party is supporting the grifter who admires Putin and is stupid enough to be Putin's lapdog or maybe even workhorse. Since 2016 Putin has been angling for a leader of the USA who'll ignore Russia.
