I don't think the people who watch the Daily Show are fence sitters who aren't aware of Stewart's opinion and history with Trump and Republicans. It didn't have to be. But you could still mention the horrific things Trump had just done. It would have taken less than 40 seconds. Ignoring it to both sides is what Fox News does. Hence why people called it out and hence why Musk and Daily Beast and their ilk all embraced it. We are now getting other segments focused on the stupidity of Republicans and Trump.
