I apologize if I'm ignorant on the matter here, and I'm being completely sincere when I ask this, but how is that transphobic? There's a difference between sex and gender, no? The idea of a trans person as opposed to a cis person doesn't make sense if that distinction doesn't exist. Is there another term I should be using instead?
Biological males is a well known transphobic dog whistle where the word biological is slapped onto things to appropriate an air of scientific authority. This is not an actual medical or scientific term, however. All people are biological. Male and female as labels for biological sex are a social construct, first and foremost, and are frequently used interchangeably with gender. Sex and gender have distinctions but they are not wholly unrelated concepts, and saying they are separate can be misleading depending on the context.

A woman who has medically / legally transitioned is scientifically, medically, biologically, and legally female. When seeing a doctor for example, using terms like male is misleading and actually harmful. This is not to even begin getting into other facets of transphobia with calling trans women male or biologically male.

Theres a lot more in-depth exploration of this topic but thats a surface level examination to help you get started.

Im sure you can find resources online to help educate yourself as well as to why its incorrect, harmful, and transphobic to refer to women who are trans as males or biological male.
