Locations with 3 Avengers get +3 power and once you play 4 X-Men get +1 power. Not really sure how many decks with synergy you could get playing the two though. Avengers has some Ongoing at least, but some X-Men do nothing with each other XMen have some high evo synergy. It also affects all your XMen everywhere.
