I've not seen it, but I thought a lot of people were disappointed that it ended up as "Tom Cruise stars as Tom Cruise in Look How Awesome Tom Cruise Is (also there's a Mummy)" No, it was mostly just because Tom Cruise's character wasn't fun for a big action film. Like compare him to Brendan Fraser's Rick O'Connell in the previous Mummy trilogy. There you had a character who was so much fun to follow and this Tom Cruise character was none of that.
