Rules:

  1. Rate each case on a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. Anything above 10 gets rounded down to a 10, and anything below a 1 gets rounded up to a 1.
  2. Anything beyond one decimal point will be rounded accordingly: .04 and below will be rounded down, .05 and up will be rounded up.
  3. You may grade on any criteria you like.
  4. You can rate cases from previous topics if you miss a topic.

The First Turnabout (1-1) - 4.8 (21 votes)

1-1 almost gets the exact middle, which seems appropriate. It was praised for being a pretty clean tutorial case and a solid way to get someone prepared for the rest of AA.

There was discussion about how to rate these. I decided to keep it open-ended. I'll continue to vote relative to the AA series. Since LS rated on two different criteria, I counted their 7/10 vote since they seem to prefer absolute voting over relative voting.

My rating: 4.5/10. It's Takumi's first designed AA case and it shows. It has really lofty ambitions, but the execution is lacking. This might be the most simple murder in the series. Mia's death is a shocker and all the mainstays are introduced well. I used to really dislike Mia's takedown of White for partially being easily solvable (the receipt) and also not solvable at all (the list of names), but I have really grown to appreciate it. I see it as more of Phoenix's arc. In the beginning, he's still a novice and is unable to pin the crime down. By the end, he doesn't even need help and is instead mentoring others.
