So calm yet so terrifying. No cuffs on him or nothing, it's like they don't view him as a damn threat. Kinda what his friend mom said how he was a bit of an oddball but never thought he was a danger...

So, for interrogations, there are a few reasons to thst detectives choose to keep people uncuffed unless they are expected to be a legitimate threat..
1: Suspects are more likely to talk when not cuffed and shackled.
2: It looks better when the interview is shown during trial. Jury is less likely to be sympathetic to the suspect if they aren't all chained up. Also removes a tool from the defenses arsenal that the suspect felt forced into confessing.

Besides, he really wasn't a threat to police at any point. Unarmed, did nothing to hide his guilt, was open about everything. He clearly had no intention of trying to escape. Was a sensible call to leave him uncuffed and more comfortable to share all the details and his reasoning.
