yeah, moon/equinox stuff aside it doesn't really make sense for Christmas to be a fixed date and Easter to be variable. If Christmas was also somehow tied to moon phase and the winter solstice, I wouldn't be mad.

Christmas is tied to this pagan Greco-Roman belief that all great men die nine months before their birthday. Since it was well known that Jesus died during Passover, the Church fathers reasoned that he had to have been born in December or January. The Orthodox Church went with January 7th while the Roman Church went with December 25th.

Why Easter follows the lunar calendar, I cannot say. I have a theory that Gentile Christians did it to spite the Jewish Christians who still celebrated Passover.
