TopicI recently learned a lot about how Scooby-Doo was translated in Japan

There were a lot of unusual name changes in the Japanese version that fascinated me:

Fred's name is "Handsome" in that version
Daphne is "Jenny"
Velma is "Megakko" (like "meganekko/glasses girl")
Shaggy is "Boroppin"
And Scooby-Doo is "Yowamushi Crooper" ("Cowardly Crooper")

And I can't stop thinking about their version of the theme song. It's catchy, but mainly I'm amazed but how much it completely and utterly drags Scooby/Crooper. This is like borderline abusive:

[Translated lyrics]:
Why are you such a coward,
That's why everyone makes fun of you!
Why are you so cowardly,
That's why everyone's laughing at you!
Crooper the Cowardly pest!
Crooper the Cowardly pest!
A disgrace to his canine friends!
Once in a while, fight and do something good!
Go, Go, Go Cowardly Crooper!
Why are you such a coward,
That's why everyone makes fun of you!
Why are you so cowardly,
Ghost stories make you shiver in fear!
Crooper the Cowardly pest!
Crooper the Cowardly pest!
He holds everyone up for a delicious bone!
Face the bad guys,
Go, Go, Go Cowardly Crooper!
Crooper the Cowardly pest!
Crooper the Cowardly pest!
He holds everyone up for a delicious bone!
Face the bad guys,
Go, Go, Go Cowardly Crooper!
