i have minimal input here but i will also say it honestly caught me off guard how small its impact on launch was compared to the other big releases that day too

of course it's hardly the only one i've felt that about, i assumed the thaumaturge would also be a hit (well, initially anyway, then i tempered my expectations and now it's actually done better than i thought, but still)

not to mention that games like botany manor https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/0/09b70a17.png, pepper grinder https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/b/bba53033.png, ufouria 2 https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/b/bb21a573.png, promenade https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/e/ef661dd7.png, recolit https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/7/727e0cc1.png and penny's big breakaway https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/3/32da10df.png were all going to be quite successful in the indie scene (at least peaking over 1k players) given their solid coverage before release and uh, oops

i also assumed games like dead man's hand (online competitive russian roulette-themed game with uno-like rules) and drop mahjong tiles (suika game but mahjong) would at least see some coverage through streamers but clearly that didn't happen either

(the only games i've been right about in that regard so far this year are that game that's a kpop equivalent to needy streamer overload, the 100% orange juice f2p clone, and that unofficial fangame of getting over it that took all its assets besides the pot. honestly that last one exceeded my expectations, i'm pretty sure it has more players than getting over it itself)
