The whole point of the site is a weird game to get as many upvotes as you can, there's no point in remembering the names of anyone, they might as well not even be real people, and the site itself breaks if you have a conversation for more than 10 replies. If you're having a normal conversation with someone, you don't just get downvotes and then silence for saying something stupid/controversial. It feels bad. Imagine talking to your friends, and out of nowhere you say something, they all just stare at you silently, give you a. No, they reply to you like a normal interaction.
