Any (spoiler-tagged, of course) tips on what might need explaining? Ive watched the whole season too and nothing in particular is coming to mind. Thanks in advance and thank you as well for the other advice youve given!

Probably the biggest hurdle in the first episode is the jarring cut from the day of the Apocalypse to a day in Vault life, without really explaining to the viewer what a Vault is. If you can find the particular trailer that starts off with that snippet of Cooper's black and white TV ad for Vault-Tec, I think it'd be beneficial to play just that part of the trailer prior to starting the first ep; otherwise, just briefly explain what the Vaults are to them (though I'd leave out the fact that they're secretly horrible science / social experiments, since that did end up being a focus of the show, and they did quite a good job of slowing peeling back that mystery for newcomers).

It also couldn't hurt to explain to them what a Ghoul is, aka people mutated by radiation who live a really long time as a result.

Funnily enough, one of the first things my dad pointed out was 'why are there still new soda bottles 200 years after the apocalypse?" In that case don't be afraid to blame it on Bethesda for not thinking things through, lol (or you could just write it and all the other silliness off as 'campy space-age humor, aka what your dad / granddad thought the future would be like').

Still, having said all that, they'll probably figure things out just fine on their own. Just do your best to convince them to stick with it through the 2nd episode and then decide how they feel about it.
