perhaps since around when it came out. So, this was a sorta new experience in a way. I am at the final dungeon and i've done just about everything worth doing as far as sidequests.

The story at least so far isn't all that memorable. You spend too long in this game not really knowing shit aside from "kuja bad" until way later on. I guess a lot of JRPGs or FFs kinda have this happen.

The characters aren't super memorable for me, either.

However this game has a lot of attention to detail and other fan stuff in it. I love the moogle mail concept and a lot of the attention to details they have like how the world map moogle gets pissed if you call him and don't need him and the various things hinted at when talking to the smart moogle in the Q's marshes.

The world setting is neat. Feel like a mix of steampunk/medieval and it's neat.

What I really liked is how this game is chock full of fun and worthwhile sidequests, though part of that is PC has the speed up function, I imagine choco graph hunting at regular speed would be grueling to get through. But the sidequests are neat. Trivia question guy and the friendly monster sidequests were cool, and the friendly monster one has the added bonus of making one of the superbosses much easier, which leads me to....

I like Ozma a lot. They don't have 5,000,000,000,000 HP, only around 60K, but the AI is actually semi smart in this so even though he has low HP for a superboss, it was really fun trying to take him down.

Frog catching was kinda fun until I got to the end and depleted the marshes so I had to wait a bit to get the last few, but it was unique and I liked it.

Card game isn't as fun as FF8s, but it's still kinda cool.

Overall my impression is the story is meh, characters are alright, but the attention to detail and sidequests are really, really fun, and a lot of them are actually worth the effort.

I know the actual final boss is kinda whack because it's just a random thing who isn't actually Kuja as I remember. Weird, but seeing as FF8s final boss was kinda stupid(though we did know they'd be the final boss in the last 10% of the game) it's...okay.

I don't know why I never went back and replayed this one but I have played 7 and 8 20 times each is probably because once the PS2 game out, the leap in graphics was actually massive, so I kinda soured on PS1 which was a dumb move, but that could explain why I never went back. I had beaten 7 and 8 a couple of times by then, so they stuck.
