He was fine till Raditz showed up......Which makes him a bad dad..... dude was a terrible father a majority of the series. It wasnt just bad decisions, and honest mistakes. Gokus entire logic is selfishness in his urge and love for fighting. So a majority of the series he chose that above the safety of his family and friends. Time and time again he's done that.
