it's a follow up on the SFxT conversation. the last post is in the context of "Evo just ran SFxT and no one wanted to watch it or play it."

ST finals proves that people still are really excited about good games even if they're old fogey games. I hope they take that away from this year.

maybe I'm remembering this wrong but I think MK9 has gone through patches that have significantly altered the core gameplay. enough that it really frustrated some of the top players. I'm no MK9 player either though. I think thundersheep plays it. maybe he can shed light on the MK9 situation and whether the balance/gameplay changes are projectile related or not.

And that's bad how? Fighting games are about space control at heart. Using specials and projectiles to keep people away is pure fighting game essence. No different from watching a Dhalsim use the limbs to keep somebody away, or Ryu chucking plasma to keep people down.

what do you expect in a game with breakers o.o

mk9 is fun but flawed. same with nearly every other fighting game tho lol. sf4 is the closest to flawless in terms of competitive merit

I saw a lot of people using X-Ray attacks on the second stream yesterday. I figured that maybe a balance patch made them more viable or something, because NO ONE used em last year.

Breakers are just more important considering some normal combos can do 50+% damage.

Combos are overrated anyway, as it puts emphasis on execution skill than strategic mindgaming.

if you mean flawless as in "there's mostly nothing wrong with it, and it rewards solid play" we're probably talking like CvS2 or something. closest thing.
