Which way does the parade go, relative to your perspective?

These are the only two options for this hypothetical parade - you can't be clever and ask to stand in front of the parade or directly behind it. Note also that you cannot tunnel underneath the parade, as that would be a really stupid place to watch a parade from, and you lack the technology/superpowers necessary to hover above it.

You must stand 90 degrees perpendicular to the parade route at approximately street level. You also can't not watch the parade; you are being accompanied by two agents, each standing to your sides who have been instructed to ensure you watch the parade by any means necessary. They will monitor you and any attempts to leave, avert your gaze, close your eyes, or otherwise obstruct your vision will be met with a gentle reminder, followed by a command, followed by a forcing your compliance. They have devices readily available that can force you to watch, no matter what you do.

Fighting the agents is not an option. Both are armed and are stronger, faster, and better trained in combative arts than you. Alerting those around you is also not an option; the agency removed your vocal chords (and promised to return them at the parade's conclusion) and the crowd is too enraptured by the parade to notice more subtle pleas like sign language or tapping your foot. Any more ostentatious displays would be met with a forceful reaction from the agents.

You can assume that no medical incidents or emergencies will occur during the parade.Your phone has been confiscated so as not to disrupt the proceedings.

You are not being compensated, monetarily or otherwise, for your presence at this parade, but there is also no admission fee. Any prohibitive measures that would prevent you from attending, such as court-mandated restraining orders, are waived for the duration of the celebration. Your transportation to and from the parade will be handled by an external contractor at no cost to you.

The parade is non-descript, but celebratory in nature and moves at approximately a normal walking speed. You are not informed of its subject in advance.

Left to right.

Now that I think about it, every parade I can remember attending has been from left to right relative to my position.

Only because of the side of it you were standing on.

While I like that you went to a lot of work to force people to not have an out in this scenario, you failed to address more basic questions while where am I standing in relation to the parade and how far along is the parade. No matter where I'm standing, I'll usually look first to the middle (if I'm walking out when it's going on), then the front, then the back. If I'm left of the parade, that means looking left first. If I'm right of the parade, that means looking right first. (Unless the parade is moving backwards.)

And there's a pretty practical reason for that because the front of the parade is leaving my line of sight while the back is just entering it. Therefore I'll always want to see the people going rather than the ones just arriving, but after that I'll just focus on the ones arriving.

Unless there's something to the question I missed because it's buried under layers of "You can't do this."

If you're on the other side it'd be from right to left. I am sort of wondering what the point of this hypothetical is...a lot of effort was put into making sure we say right to left /left to right

It's isn't asking about where you look its just asking about what direction it moves relative to your position.

Yeah; I meant relative to my position. And TC might just be curious in what "direction" people picture a parade moving (I sort of am now, haha) without silly responses.

I can't remember a single parade that I've watched that didn't go right to left. I've also never been the person to pick out the spot, so the people I'm with seem to have a bias.

Joke's on you - the parade happens to be in Vegas, occurring right where the contractor delivered you.

In a surprise twist, what you thought was Bellagio was actually the parade and the blackjack table was a carefully designed interactive float. You watched the whole thing without even realising it.

i just wanted to play blackjack and shoot some craps while unknowingly watching a parade, but sadly it was not to be
