I really like it. It's got stupid plot twists, bad audio mixing at times, but it has Nel. She makes up for a lot of the game's problems.

I dunno. Crispin Freeman is awesome here (cause he's Crispin Freeman), but I dunno about Albel. I get why he's liked, but I never was fond of him. I think it was comparisons to Albedo that made Albel just come off as second rate. It was the same guy playing the same kind of character. Maybe he was trying too hard to be "that guy." Can't fault the guy for getting work. He played yet another similar type with Alan from Big O within the same timeframe. Maybe I was just getting over it. I actually got more interest with him playing a stand-up knight kinda dude in SO5. I hadn't heard him in 5-10 years, so it was a shock to the system.

Maybe if Albel had a scene where he ripped his own head off while stalking, torturing, and mindraping girls, he'd be more memorable. That or a scene where he plays two characters at the same time. It's hard to top that.

Even in a cast with idiots like Fayt and Roger, Albel is just "there." Like the Vincent anti-hero I'm cool cause I'm awesome cause I'm dark and edgy sort of thing. Hell, even Adray has more presence, and he's a big old goof.

Did I say I didn't? He's one of my favorites (probably top 5-10 as far as anime/game actors go). He got into a huge typecast rut, but he's great. Not liking Albel doesn't mean he sucks as an actor. He shares the game with whoever the fuck voiced Farleen. THAT is what bad acting/casting/everything sounds like.

So that's how I knew her voice before SO3. Definitely explains a few things. Still stuck out in this game though. I mean, good VAs for the main cast, and great NPC choices and decent direction, but goddamn.

I can't tell what I hated more: Farleen's VA or the plot twist.

The orphanage is dumb as hell, but it has nothing on on SO3. I knew it was garbage without having played much of the original and SO2. I can't fathom what earlier fans felt.

Note: I say most of criticisms as a huge fan of the game. It ranks as one of my all-time favorites, but sheesh. I love it despite some terrible execution.
