No, only my college.

Yes and a jazz and regular band.

We had three options for music: Orchestra, Band, and Choir.

I didn't take any of them. I am not musically inclined in the slightest and never have been, so I took art classes instead.

We had a band who happened to also function as an orchestra. A couple of days before winter break each year we would be ushered into the auditorium for a Christmas music orchestra.

There was also an A cappella group who performed.

I think the answer is just 'yes' in that case. From how you tell it I'd guess all the wind players in orchestra were also in band. "Band" doesn't have string instruments by definition so it sounds like you just had a band and an orchestra but a lot of people were in both.

I actually played violin for four years in a really prestigious high school orchestra program. We won a couple of regional awards and toured to Italy while I was there, and our director just got recognized with some huge award at the national level a couple years ago (and is also one of the highest paid high school educators in Washington State). It was very very fun and is actually a big part of how I ended up being able to compose my own music.

And yeah this is a school that now has (to my knowledge): 3 full symphony orchestras, 7 choirs, 6 or 7 instrumental music programs, and an audition-based theatre program that puts on musicals that also win awards pretty frequently. We seriously had no idea how good we had it at that school.

I don't remember them ever calling themselves an orchestra for some reason, only "band."

No orchestra, just a band, jazz band, and jazz choir. In high school specifically. Though I could have sworn one more class used the band room...

I'm kinda surprised at the results

I feel like the majority of high schools I'm familiar with IRL don't have an orchestra. it's pretty much reserved for the largest schools or private schools.

I took one art class in 9th grade to fulfill the art/music requirement, so I didn't join any of them.

Yeah, same here. Which is part of why I'm a bit surprised at the results.

Wish I'd broken it out with yes or no by graduating class size.
